The Best Hotel For Visiting The Fort Worth Cultural District

The Chalk Report

By: Andy Chalk

Next to the Kimbell Art Museum, at the back of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, one block down from the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. That location puts the Crescent Hotel in the epicenter of the Fort Worth Cultural District. Its 5* amenities make it the ideal place to stay when visiting.

The 200-room hotel, in a modern building at Camp Bowie Boulevard and Van Cliburn Way, opened just over two and a half years ago. Eye the art all over the public areas, it is serious local work, a kind of respectful echo of the work on display at the surrounding museums.

The signature restaurant is Emilia’s, an Italian-inspired restaurant originally helmed, at the stoves, by Preston Paine. Paine trained in New Orleans and worked for a time at Michelin 3* Eleven Madison Park, among other fine dining establishments, so he should know his stuff. Recently, Sean Malek took over the execuchef role.

Just off to the side of Emiia’s is the culinary Lagniappe (as Paine might call it). The Blue Room is a themed, intimate, dining room designed by starchitect Rosset Studio. The extra investment here is an unusual touch. The closest I have seen in north Texas is the Dallas Anatole’s Wedgewood Room. It serves a set menu of six courses on Fridays and Saturdays and is available for private functions on other nights. I attended a Caymus wine tasting and dinner there and the private setting was ideal in helping us feel as one with the winery representative.

There are two bars. The Circle bar is off the lobby and Ralph’s is on the roof. It features spectacular views over the Cultural District.

Another popular amenity is Canyon Ranch Wellness Club + Spa, a 9,000 sq. ft. facility. Also popular are meeting and wedding facilities.
